Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Edwin A. Abbott, Flatland

Flatland – A Romance of Many Dimensions

Edwin Abbott Abbott (December 20th 1838 – October 12th 1926) was best known for his novella „Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions“ which was first published in 1884. He was also an English schoolmaster and theologian, highly educated and well respected. His liberal inclinations in theology were prominent both in his educational views and in his books. In „Flatland“, often regarded as science fiction, although it should more aptly be categorized as „mathematical fiction“, he describes a two-dimensional world where the nature of dimensions is being explored. With the ongoing popularity of science fiction, „Flatland“ has inspired many other works, still being fascinating by showing the reader a world that is based on mathematical logic, combined with very human behaviour of the main characters. Abbott included several drawings in his novella, all of which are printed in this unique miniature version. Needless to say that the text of „Flatland“ is also complete and unabbreviated! Cover and slip case were designed by our artist Harry Jürgens of Leipzig, Germany. This miniature book comes in a regular version and a limited (250 copies) gilt-edged version with a silver book block, matching the design of the cover. Chose your preferred version through the options.

F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
TOP

As member of the so called Lost Generation of the 1920s, Fitzgerald’s success during his lifetime was a limited one. Today though Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (September 24th 1896 – December 21st 1940) is considered as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Millions of copies of his works have been sold so far, with „The Great Gatsby“ (1925) being his most famous novel, a constant best-seller and story material for numerous movies, including the 2013 adaption starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and others. Out of all publications of this cautionary tale regarding the American Dream, our miniature edition might be one of the most unique ones, outstanding in shape and quality, but still using the same design elements of the original book cover of the very first publication of 1925. Fitting in the palm of your hand, this miniature Gatsby makes for an awesome gift for almost anyone. Not only shows it great taste, but also will surprise and amaze. The text is perfectly readable since the typesetting is adjusted to the smaller page size, containing the complete and unabbreviated text of course! Both regular and limited gilt-edged editions are available. Chose it as a thoughtful gift or as perfect addition to your own miniature book library!

H.G. Wells, The Time Machine
TOP

A „father of science fiction“ – along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback, prolific writer, social critic, a futurist who foresaw airplanes, tanks, space travel, even satellite TV and nuclear weapons: Herbert George Wells (September 21st 1866 – August 13th 1946) is up to this day one of the most read science fiction authors. He also was opposed against the Nazis right from the beginning which got him banned in Germany and Austria until 1945. His popular science fiction novella „The Time Machine“ (1895) reflects Wells‘ own socialist views when having a Victorian Englishman travel into the future only to find out that humankind has evolved into two species, the leasured classes of the peaceful yet helpless Eloi, and the working classes of the brutal, light-fearing Morlocks. Only in this future the working classes are literally feeding on the leasured classes, having the Morlocks eat the Eloi. As outspoken socialist and pacifist, H. G. Wells, often describing lower-middle-class life, is a worthy successor to the great Charles Dickens. With this miniature edition you get the unabbreviated novella „The Time Machine“ for your miniature book library, and H. G. Wells should not be missing in any decent library! You may chose between the regular and the limited (250 copies) gilt-edged edition.
